Advanced Driver Assistance Systems – ADAS-Lab

The aim of ADAS Lab (Advanced Driver Assistant Systems Living Lab) is to foster research, development, and demonstration of interactive in-vehicle systems as well as novel mobility concepts. It is located on Saarland University campus und is comprised of the following parts: two driving simulation laboratories, several test vehicles (BMW, Mercedes), a testing and demonstration course, a workshop for prototype construction as well as a bike fleet (including e-bikes).

The driving simulation laboratories are equipped with DFKI's own software OpenDS (www.opends.eu). Here, we conduct usability and acceptance studies during and after the design process. On the test track, we run test and demonstration drives, for which DFKI holds a special permit. The workshop is equipped with appliances for prototypical manufacturing of product designs.

From June 2014 on, ADAS Labs furthermore runs a bike fleet on Saarland University Campus. Several cargo bikes (including e-bikes) can be used for free by students, faculty, and guests. We gather anonymous data with the aim to improve multimodal transportation concepts.
