Distributed 3D Object Design (DISTRO) is a EU project funded for four years. The project is part of a European Training Network with the goal to qualify a new generation of excellent researchers, technicians and enterprises. The main research topics are Visual Computing and 3D Computer Graphics. The overall goal of DISTRO is to strengthen and sustainably advance the scientific position of whole Europe in the above areas.

The ASR research department is focussing on research questions with respect to data oriented synthesis of human motions. Main goal is the development of a natural human animation which fullfills semantic, kinematic and environmental constraints. The necessary information stems from a MoCap dataset of typical motions recorded beforehand. Gaussian Mixtures, Guassian Processes and Gaussian Process Models are available as statistical learning techniques emploid as methods by the researchers. Moreover Deep Learning is planned as a means for the development of interactive motions clips.

In the future the acquisition of real world objects has to be easy and fast in order to make them available as digital artifacts for music, text and images. DISTRO yields a timely and innovative solution for the acquisition, modelling and creation of these objects and for the connection of both worlds.
