Intelligent Networks

Based on the fusion of the virtual and physical world, examples are the current developments in the context of Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things, communication networks are becoming more and more important. In this context, telecommunications and information are regarded as one of the key sectors of the so-called critical infrastructure that ensure economic success in Germany.

Against this background, the Intelligent Networks (IN) research department is working on innovative concepts for the implementation of particularly sophisticated communication solutions, especially for the industrial environment, e.g. for production automation in cyber-physical production systems. For this purpose, modern communication networks must have intelligent functionalities (e.g. self-organisation) and adequate interfaces to production-related systems (e.g. MES) in order to provide autonomous, secure and reliable wireless or wired networking of individual devices and components.
The focus of the research department is on the development of new technologies in the 3 fields:

5G Networks

  • Autonomous Core Network Management
  • Private Networks
  • Integration of new network technologies

Industrial Communication

  • Industrial WLAN
  • Industrial Network Management
  • 5G for Industrial Applications

Industrial IT-Security

  • Physical Layer Security
  • Anomaly Detection
  • Deception Systems
