DFKI and Transatlantic AI eXchange forge strategic partnership to drive innovation transfer in AI

| Press release | Saarbrücken

The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and the expert network Transatlantic AI eXchange (TAIX) are planning to set up a joint European AI transfer and collaboration exchange in close cooperation with the European network CLAIRE and the Center for European Research in Trusted AI (CERTAIN). The goal of this partnership is to accelerate the transfer of cutting-edge research and technology in the field of artificial intelligence into viable applications and to foster transatlantic cooperation. As founder of TAIX, Thomas Neubert will support DFKI as "CERTAIN DFKI Industry Liaison Officer" in increasing international visibility and deepening contacts with globally active companies.

Given the vital role of transatlantic collaboration in advancing AI research and innovation, DFKI and TAIX intend to actively engage with stakeholders and policymakers in the United States. This effort aims to facilitate knowledge exchange, strengthen cross-border partnerships, and create policy frameworks for AI that foster innovation and growth.

"DFKI's networking initiatives and bilateral collaborations in Europe and worldwide are of crucial importance for our reputation in the international scientific community. By working with TAIX, we are deepening connections with companies and promoting the transfer of excellent AI technology and know-how not only in Germany and Europe but also to the USA and the world," explains Prof. Dr. Philipp Slusallek, Executive Director of DFKI Saarbrücken.

Thomas Neubert adds: "With specially designed programs that bring together researchers and industry leaders, we are laying the foundation for a unique transatlantic collaboration in AI. Our goal is not only to push the boundaries of technology but also to connect continents and realize the full potential of AI for societal progress."

One focus of DFKI's collaboration with TAIX is to strengthen CERTAIN's networking with international associations, initiatives, and companies. CERTAIN (Centre for European Research in Trusted AI) is a consortium dedicated to the research, development, application, standardization, and promotion of trustworthy AI technologies with the aim of providing guarantees for AI systems so that they can also be certified for critical application scenarios. Thomas Neubert will support CERTAIN in establishing and maintaining relationships with companies and industry partners, including at an international level.

Concrete measures to promote collaboration, knowledge exchange, and technology transfer in the field of AI include cross-media educational offerings, hybrid conferences, and face-to-face events. The event 1st Industry Collaboration and Transfer Exchange - From Research to Market on May 6 and 7 in Saarbrücken, organized by the network of European centers of excellence TAILOR and the DFKI, will serve as a starting point.
