KI-Campus: digital learning platform launched

The learning platform for artificial intelligence KI-Campus is now publicly available as a beta version with the first digital courses. Due to the current situation and demand, the launch is taking place nine months earlier than planned. The learning courses and functionalities of KI-Campus will be continuously developed and expanded in a feedback and user-oriented manner.

Berlin, 30.07.2020. The research and development project "KI-Campus - The Learning Platform for Artificial Intelligence", which has been funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) since October 2019, is going online as a beta version. Students, professionals and other lifelong learners will find openly licensed free learning opportunities on the AI Campus.

The following learning resources ("KI-Campus Originals"), which have been specially developed for the KI Campus, are already available for the beta launch:

• Charité Berlin - Dr. med. AI: In the interactive learning programme, which is based on a podcast, learners can experience how AI is used in medicine.
• Young Tinkerers - School Makes AI: The online course enables students and teachers to integrate the topic of AI into their lessons in a student-friendly way.
• Kiron Open Higher Education - Launchpad to Fundamental Questions on AI: Based on the comic strip "We need to talk, AI", this introduction presents central AI topics in an appealing way.

Coming soon:

• UnternehmerTUM - Einführung in die AI: The introductory learning offer clarifies the essential technical aspects and functionalities of AI.
• Fraunhofer IIS - Explainable Artificial Intelligence for Engineering: The advanced course offers an overview of methods of explainable machine learning.

In total, more than 20 "KI-Campus Originals" will be created in the coming months, covering various AI topics. These free learning resources, from podcasts, videos and courses to the " micro-degree ", are being developed by scientists from numerous universities in Germany and Luxembourg as well as by leading experts from the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). In addition, the learning platform KI-Campus curates and recommends German and English language learning courses offered by other platforms, based on academic quality standards.

Florian Rampelt, project manager of the KI-Campus: "We deliberately chose the early beta launch in order to contribute to the strengthening of self-organized learning in general and AI competencies in particular with free digital learning courses during the Corona period. All students and teachers are welcome to try out the AI Campus at this early stage of development and to provide us with their feedback and ideas to support us in our ongoing development".

"AI is becoming more and more relevant in professional and everyday life and is therefore an important educational content", explains Prof. Dr. Kerstin Ritter, Assistant Professor for Computational Neuroscience at the Charité Berlin. "KI-Campus offers us the opportunity to teach AI skills in a focused manner. I am very pleased to be in a position to implement a first learning offer on AI in medicine together with KI-Campus in the digital summer semester.
