Abstract

This book represents a part of the work in the SAPMES project between the Institute for Innovative Informatics Applications (I3A) at the University of Applied Sciences Trier and SES-Astra. In this book the application of a user-centered development process according to DIN EN ISO 13407 was used to develop a new graphical user interface for a Satellite Performance Monitoring System. To support user-centered development the dialogue principles of DIN EN ISO 9241 part 110 and the corresponding generic recommendations assisted to derive usability requirements. The recommendations for applying the dialog techniques of DIN EN ISO 9241 parts 14 to 17 helped to derive design solutions from the usability requirements specified before. The usability of these design solutions were tested with real users. This was done with paper prototypes. The results of these tests were used to improve the specification of the context of use, the usability requirements and the iterative design solutions, according to DIN EN ISO 13407.
