Dr. Steffen Zeuch presented “The NebulaStream Platform for Data and Application Management in the Internet of Things.” Originating at TU Berlin and DFKI, NebulaStream is a novel database management system specially developed for the Internet of Things (IoT). NebulaStream addresses the heterogeneity and distribution of compute and data, supports diverse data and programming models going beyond relational algebra, deals with potentially unreliable communication, and enables constant evolution under continuous operation. Jointly co-authored with BigDaMa PhD Student Mahdi Esmailoghli, Prof. Ziawasch Abedjan presented “CAFE: Constraint-Aware Feature Extraction from Large Databases,” during the traditional Gong Show. The talk discussed feature selection in the context of the upcoming 2020 election primaries in the U.S. For more details, download the paper at: http://cidrdb.org/cidr2020/gongshow2020/gongshow/abstracts/cidr2020_abstract86.pdf.
CIDR is a systems-oriented conference, emphasizing the systems architecture perspective. Historically, the biennial conference begun in 2003 was always held in Asilomar, California (USA). From 2020 on, the conference will be organized annually, alternating between Amsterdam (even years) and Asilomar (odd years).
