From June 23-25, 2022, the hacker team of the Smart Service Engineering (SSE) research department participated in the INTERSCHUTZ Hackathon at the Hannover Messe exhibition grounds.

The event took place for the second time, this year in cooperation with the projects SPELL and PAIRS. PAIRS is a project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) within the framework of the "Innovation Competition Artificial Intelligence", which deals with AI-based crisis management. The project has a project duration of three years (01.06.2021 - 31.05.2024) and a funding volume of approximately €10 million.

Together, the present hacker teams competed "40h Challenges" around the topics of disaster management and supply chain resilience, with the chance to win prizes of up to 5000€. Furthermore, innovative ideas could be generated, implemented as well as expert roundtables could be used for a common exchange.

The SSE Hacker team is very proud to have won the second place. They presented a prototype for crisis management that predicts power outages based on the analysis of weather and Twitter data.
