Duration:
Artificial Intelligence for Arts Education

Artificial Intelligence for Arts Education

The project explores the opportunities, conditions, and limitations of the pedagogical use of artificial intelligence (AI) in culturally diverse settings of cultural education (KuBi). In three subprojects—general education, computer science, and art education—creativity-oriented pedagogical AI practice research and computer science AI design and programming are closely intertwined. The computer science subproject deals with the design and implementation of an AI module based on state-of-the-art multimodal AI architectures that makes the AI application available to all actors via an intuitive UI/UX. In this research project, AI is being developed as a “teachable agent,” i.e., as a media co-actor. AI will not serve as a substitute for a human actor, but rather will support and enable the participatory approach in “creative education.” Problematic aspects of generative AI will also be investigated and contrastively presented, such as potential for discrimination or cultural bias.
