This Project brings KI into the Assembly of Cars

Visualization and digital modeling activities are increasingly finding their place in the automotive industry as well as in a large number of different key industries. In contrast to applications in mechanical and mechatronic components, the simulation of human motion is still in its infancy in this field of application.

The MOSIM project - a project within the framework of the ITEA3 project - is now intended to remedy this situation. Under the project management of Daimler and other project partners from research and industry, the overriding goal is to create a holistic simulation approach that will remedy this situation. Concepts and methods from the AI will be used to develop approaches that significantly increase the degree of reality of software used to simulate human movements. At the same time, the manual preparation and post-processing effort should be drastically reduced or automated.

ITEA - currently already in the 3rd round - is a transnational and industry-driven research, development and innovation programme (R&D&I) in the field of software innovation. ITEA is a cluster programme of EUREKA, an intergovernmental network for R&D&I cooperation involving more than 40 countries worldwide.

Within MOSIM, it is planned to use and extend building blocks from previous ITEA projects to initiate a revolution in automotive assembly in terms of buildability, ergonomics and time.
