The project will develop an intelligent work tool for researching information. A wide variety of applications are imaginable such as intelligent library services or as an advanced information service in the Internet or an intranet. The project scope is three years. During this time, a prototype will be developed based on one domain (tourism). At the end of the evaluation phase it will be applied to a second domain (regional information system) in order to prove its functional ability. The prototype will be multilingually designed from the start. Initial language will be German and then will be subsequently expanded with Englsch. GETESS will have the following characteristics:
- It portrays an easy-to-use system
- Search inquiries can be described in a natural language
- Refinement of a search inquiry can be carried out through navigation in an ontology
- The contents of the search results will be presented to the user in an understandable form
- Modern and attractive multimedia techniques will be employed
