Robotics

Robots can not only perform complex activities in places where it is dangerous, unreasonable, or unhealthy for humans, but are increasingly being used in collaborative teams to carry out sensitive tasks together with people. Here, computer scientists and designers work in interdisciplinary teams with biologists, mathematicians, computer linguists, industrial designers, electrical engineers, physicists and psychologists. The design of the robots corresponds to the latest findings in mechatronics. The programming is based on complex, massively parallel embedded system solutions.

  1. JIRo - Joint Inspection Robot

The project JIRo is a joint venture of Shell Brasil and the Brazilian Institute for Robotics (BIR), which is a cooperation between the Brazilian center for education, technology and education SENAI…

  2. TRACTAT - Transfer of Control (ToC) zwischen Autonomen Systemen und Menschen

The TRACTAT project aims to lay the foundation for a smooth and effective Transfer of Control (ToC) between autonomous systems and humans in cyber-physical environments.

    Autonomous systems, like…

  3. TransFit - Flexible interaction for infrastructures establishment by means of teleoperation and direct collaboration; transfer into industry 4.0

TransFIT is part of the space road map of the DFKI RIC. The project does focus on the assembly and installation of infrastructure for space applications by humans and robots either autonomously or in…

  4. Dreams4Cars - Dream-like Simulation abilities for automated cars

The project Dreams4Cars takes inspiration from the Simulation Hypothesis of Cognition – notably in the sense of Hesslow – and in particular from the idea that thoughts are chains of simulated actions…

  5. SIROM - Standard Interface for Robotic Manipulation of Payloads in Future Space Missions

The SIROM project aims to develop physical interfaces, which can be used to connect payloads in planetary and orbital applications with manipulators or other payloads, as well as two systems, e.g.…
