Project | BfG TransferLab

Duration:

BfG TransferLab

The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and the Federal Institute of Hydrology (BfG) have launched a joint transfer lab to develop practical AI solutions for Germany's federal waterways. The methods developed in the lab are intended to enhance and complement the BfG's established data-driven approaches across its wide range of responsibilities. This is made possible by the BfG's extensive data repository, which includes exceptionally long time series on topics such as hydrology, water quality, and ecology. Initial use cases include data quality assurance, image classification—starting with the automated analysis of aerial imagery—and the enhancement of physics-based models for applications such as streamflow and water level forecasting.
