In the project KI-SIGS (AI-Space for Intelligent Health Systems), companies, universities and research institutions from Northern Germany are pooling their expertise in the field of medical AI in order to jointly develop growth potential.
The KI-SIGS project demonstrates for the model region of Northern Germany how medical AI technologies can be better developed and applied more quickly. The core of the project is the AI-Space, a platform through which knowledge transfer is organised, planned developments are coordinated and regulatory and ethical guidelines are drawn up. Thus, the question of how AI-based technologies can be made approvable is still largely unresolved. This, like the ethical implications of these techniques, requires further scientific research. In addition, nine application projects are investigating concrete and real-life medical questions using AI techniques, for example, improving the quality of X-rays, optimizing ventilation therapy or detecting crisis situations in intensive care units.
