The project works on the AI-based development of a technology for the safety and accident prevention of autonomous vehicles by using LiDAR sensors on autonomous vehicles in shared space. At the same time, the project is dedicated to the real-time networking of environmental data of several participating vehicles with subsequent evaluation by AI methods and the final provision of the data via the research platform mCloud. After tests in a safe environment with buses in real shared space during the major event Kieler Woche, the project will be implemented. The use of the installed software and the real-time networking of the LiDAR data during such a major event significantly facilitates adaptation for further deployment scenarios and makes transferability to individual transport possible. With the help of the technology developed, not only can the safety and accident prevention of autonomous vehicles be improved, but it can also help to control future traffic flows. In addition, the provision and networking of AI-enhanced data enables a wide range of innovative applications for cities, municipalities and the environment. In the project, ASR is responsible for the development and training of an AI algorithm. Trajectory planning in the simulation environment serves as the data basis for predicting the movement trajectories of road users in shared space. The algorithm allows, based on the sensor data of several LiDar, cameras and GPS, a rolling 5 second forecast for the movement patterns of road users.
