Abstract

The Capability Skill Service (CSS) model, while increasingly referenced within the realm of production, is yet to be thoroughly examined in the context of intralogistics. This review paper seeks to address this open research field by critically evaluating the potential applicability of the CSS model to intralogistics. Drawing insights from its emerging prominence in production, we assess its current status, diverse use cases, and the inherent limitations therein. In tandem, we navigate the intricacies of intralogistics, emphasizing its requirements, prevalent methodologies, and its alignment with Industry 4.0 principles. Faced with the unique challenges intrinsic to intralogistics, this paper deliberates on the prospective advantages and challenges of adapting the CSS model from its production origins to this domain. The core objective is to ascertain the viability of such a transition, providing valuable perspectives that might pave the way for future research and innovations at the nexus of CSS and Intralogistics 4.0.
