Abstract
This study addresses the growing importance of digital well-being in the workplace
amidst increasing digitalization. Despite global initiatives and EU regulations advocating a human-
centered approach to technology, employees are increasingly affected by technostress, burnout, and
loneliness at work. Digital well-being is a valuable asset for organizations – not only for employee
well-being but also for driving efficiency, retention, and motivation, impacting overall
organizational performance. However, validated criteria and practical tools for assessing and
enhancing digital well-being remain scarce. Building on existing literature and expert evaluations,
this study takes a step towards operationalizing digital well-being in the workplace through
taxonomy development, supported by empirical validation using a Delphi study. The results provide
operationalizable guidance in the form of a taxonomy for creating digital work environments that
leverage technological advances while promoting digital well-being and improving organizational
performance. Moreover, the study establishes a foundation for developing organizational self-
assessment tools to enhance operational readiness.
