Zusammenfassung
Integrity, reliability and trustworthiness have always been the basic requirements for secure systems, including
doubtlessly authenticated participants. This is increasingly relevant as systems become distributed and even more challenging
as devices involved become low-resource Industrial Internet of Thing (IIoT) devices. Nevertheless, more efficient and secure
techniques are required to ensure confidentiality and privacy. A promising solution is offered by Physical Layer Security (PhySec),
in particular by Physically Unclonable Functions (PUFs). Their functional principle: the exploitation of the unique characteristics
of semiconductors is inherent in both Static Random Access Memorys (SRAMs) and Dynamic Random Access Memorys
(DRAMs). The paper discusses the properties of both types and compares them in terms of suitability for security-related
applications.
