Zusammenfassung
Changing markets, individualized products, and volatile supply chains require a high degree of flexibility, especially in production and manufacturing. A promising approach to reconfigurable and flexible manufacturing is the use of machine-level skills. This paper presents a simple architecture for skill-based machining of individualized milled parts. A transport system and a machine tool are controlled purely by skills using a defined OPC UA interface. Production orders can be generated from a CAD system or received via the GAIA-X network. The order data as well as information about the manufacturing process are stored in a Product Asset Administration Shell, which is interpreted by a production flow control. Sequentially, different skills for the manufacturing process are executed on the resources. This enables the direct production of individualized parts that are available in CAD. With the architecture presented, there is no need to generate machine code using CAM tools, NC programming or shop floor programming. This is because the intelligence required for the manufacturing process is encapsulated behind the defined OPC UA skill interface, which requires only the geometric data of the features of the CAD part.
