In our DFKI4planet media library you will find video, audio and image material about our AI solutions in the areas of environmental protection, sustainable agriculture and production, waste and resource management, energy efficiency and emission reduction as well as green mobility.
In the PlastikObs+ research project, DFKI is working with partners on AI solutions to help find hotspots of floating plastic waste during routine overflights. A lot of data is needed so that the AI can later recognize and classify litter floating in the sea. This data is first collected on land, for example at this campsite in Lower Saxony, where a lot of waste was left behind after the hurricane festival and where this film was made.
How sustainable are AI systems and how can they themselves become more resource efficient? The podcast detektor.fm talks about this in this episode of 'Mission Energiewende'. In the interview, DFKI scientist Daphne Theodorakopoulos and Sami Nenno from the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society give concrete examples.
