DFKI and INRIA at VivaTech 2022 in Paris

From June 15 to 18, 2022, France and Germany will present future European digital champions in the French-German Tech Lab at the Vivatechnology digital trade fair in Paris. DFKI and the French computer science institute Inria will present their joint AI research, discuss it on the podium and offer a stage for start-ups from their environment.

Franco-German cooperation in the service of digital sovereignty

The French-German Tech Lab, supported by twelve organizations from both nations from science and industry, presents about 100 start-ups from Germany and France. The companies provide answers to technological challenges in the fields of artificial intelligence, quantum technology, and Industry 4.0 and contribute to sustainable development and the achievement of European technological sovereignty.

The ecosystem of Franco-German collaboration in the French-German Tech Lab
As a showcase of current digital technologies, the French-German Tech Lab is a place of exchange where key players from both countries come together. Representatives of companies and experts from research institutions discuss innovative technologies, economic opportunities, and joint projects at the round table. In addition to DFKI and Inria, the following are represented at the 300 m2 Lab: Institut Mines-Télécom, Franco-German University (DFH/UFA), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Technical University of Munich (TUM), École nationale supérieure d'arts et métiers, the Franco-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK), Ecosystème De Hub and the German states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Berlin and Saarland.

Discussions, presentations, pitches
In a joint panel on June 15, 2:00 pm - 2:35 pm, Emmanuel Vincent, Head of Science of Inria Nancy and Philipp Slusallek, Executive Director DFKI Saarbrücken, will discuss the role of artificial intelligence for the technological sovereignty of Europe.

On June 17, 2:00 pm - 2:35 pm, INRIA and DFKI will present two projects from their research collaboration launched in 2020, MOVEON and MePheSTO.

In pitch sessions, the start-ups Didactic Innovations and natif.AI from the DFKI environment will present their business ideas:

Didactic Innovations
As a spin-off of the two universities of Osnabrück and Saarbrücken, Didactic Innovations GmbH designs innovative education and training scenarios for the company of the future. Didactic Innovations designs and digitizes modern teaching and learning formats and shapes them into a new combination of didactics and technology.

Natif.ai is a deep tech start-up in the field of intelligent document processing. Thanks to high-performance AI models and a self-developed deep OCR, a wide variety of documents can be analyzed extremely quickly and accurately, and relevant data can be extracted. Natif.ai thus enables a fast and efficient way to productively bring artificial intelligence to business. The company was founded by a German-French team and is an official spin-off of the DFKIGerman Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence.
