The collaboration is structured around five core objectives. WISER and DFKI will pursue joint research at the intersection of AI and quantum computing, targeting applications in sensing, communication, optimization, and scientific discovery. The partners will also co-develop education and workforce programs designed to prepare researchers and practitioners for careers spanning both fields. WISER and DFKI intend to establish themselves as recognized joint voices in quantum-AI, building a workforce strategy at national and international levels. The partnership will also work to support access to public and national lab high-performance computing and quantum computing networks for researchers and industry partners engaged in joint initiatives.

As governments and corporations in the U.S. and EU increase investment in both AI and quantum computing, the demand for institutions capable of bridging these fields, technically, and educationally continues to grow.
