The goal of "Smart Data Web" is to to provide a bridge between publicly available information on the web and the internal information worlds of companies. For businesses it is important to be promptly informed about events that could lead to major disruptions, for example natural disasters, political unrest, strikes or supplier breakdowns. But many other developments exterior to the internal operation are also of high interest, e.g. new technologies, regulations, products by competitors. By automatically combinig public data streams, i.e. news websites or social media channels, with company internal data, production companies will be able to react faster and more securely to changes. Smart Data Web develops novel types of knowledge graphs that meaningfully link public and company data to enable the intelligent selection and analysis of business-relevant information. The information gained from this newly created knowledge graph can help businesses to significantly optimize their planning and decision processes, e.g. in supply chain management. Another key area of the Smart Data Web project is market research.
