Profile

Marius Mosbach studied computer science at Saarland University, where he also earned his Ph.D. He then conducted research at Mila – Quebec AI Institute and at McGill University in Montréal. Since 2026, he has been a professor at Saarland University and a Scientific Director at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). His research focuses on natural language processing and artificial intelligence. He investigates the capabilities, limitations, and inner workings of large language models to develop reliable and adaptable AI systems. A particular focus of his work is adapting language models to new tasks and bodies of knowledge. In this context, he examines model interpretability, generalization, continuous learning, and targeted forgetting of information.
