Project | KIgÜBA

Duration:

AI-supported inter-company training

The aim of the project is to implement the use of innovative and future-oriented digital technology in a meaningful and beneficial way for all partners involved in the dual training system, based on standard application scenarios in inter-company training (Überbetriebliche Ausbildung, ÜBA). Artificial intelligence (AI), identified as a key technology, in conjunction with the methods of real-time controlled learning situations (EGL) and adaptive learning support (AGL), offer a wide range of possible applications, both individually and in combination. It therefore forms the technological basis of this project for excellent inter-company training. Both methods, EGL and AGL, consistently aim to balance the different learning levels of the participants during ÜBA. While EGL uses real-time tracking of the working method or work sequence with learning paths adapted to the situation by AI, AGL achieves this through adaptive work statuses and an AI-controlled “learning buddy” that can be used at any time. In both cases, depending on the participant's learning level, both over- and under-challenging are avoided in order to achieve the learning objective. The project also examines how the learning systems can be sensibly transferred, taking into account the specific characteristics of the respective job profile. In addition, a train-the-trainer concept is also being considered. This should enable training staff at other ÜBA educational institutions to introduce the technology and at the same time have suitably qualified personnel available. DFKI is primarily responsible for the technical development of both the EGL and the AGL, as well as the integration of the entire system on site at the Handwerkskammer in Schweinfurt.
