Laufzeit:

Modular AI-driven Next-generation Tactical Immersive Simulation

MANTIS aims to develop a disruptive live-augmented tactical training system that integrates XR/VR, haptic suit, biometric sensors, sensorized medical toolkit (IFAK), laser-based weapon simulation systems, and an AI-enabled C2 station. The overall ambition is to redefine tactical training in Europe by providing an adaptive, interoperable, and secure platform that prepares forces for the increasing complexity, uncertainty, and hybrid nature of modern operations.

The MANTIS consortium brings together a unique cross-border ecosystem of nine entities from four EU Member States (Germany, Greece, Bulgaria, Spain)—including six innovative SMEs (SATWAYS, OASI, SYNNECT, K3Y, OWO, INMERSIA and subcontractor XTAG from Italy) and three leading research and academic institutions (UNIBW, DFKI, and the University of Alicante). This configuration creates a truly European partnership that bridges technological excellence with operational expertise. The consortium integrates southern (Spain, Greece), central (Germany), and western (Italy) European competencies, representing a geographically balanced and complementary industrial base in the defence training domain. This partnership goes beyond traditional R&D collaboration by establishing an integrated European value chain covering the entire lifecycle of a tactical training system—from human-centred design and subsystem research to integration, validation, and exploitation.
